#14 Community Service Day

HEADLINE:  DHS Freshmen Participate in Community Service Day

Recently the freshmen of Decorah High School participated in a Community Service Day, resulting in considerable transformation of school district grounds and of the community, including the trails and the outdoor classroom at West Side Early Childhood Center. The work of the 150 9th graders, aided by 24 seniors, serves as the official kickoff for the freshmen’s involvement in the DHS Silver Cord Program. Kim Sheppard, Decorah High School principal, remarked, “We appreciate the students’ efforts in giving back to our school system and the community.  It’s amazing how much difference a few hours of work will make!”
